today we saw some boats

boats!

boats!
Arctic Loon, the cutest boat.

boats!
Arden, a rusty, ye olde English-y boat.

boats!
Thor, the awesomest boat. It's like if brutalism was a boat.

boats!
Enterprise and Al Hana Leviathan II.

boats!
A handy SPECIES chart.

We walked along some piers at Fisherman's Termnial, off of the ship canal we live next to. We had a really mediocre dinner at a seafood place here but the boats made up for it. Especially Thor.

Discovery Park, Seattle

This weekend we walked through Discovery Park, which is only a few miles from our house. It juts out into Puget Sound and contains forests, meadows, hills, old abandoned stables and houses, and rocky shorelines. The coolest thing we saw there was probably a group of wild otters playing off of the shore.

We are still waiting on the claims inspector from the van line to come visit our place and look at the objects we've claimed were damaged. Once that happens we can finally repair and sell some things and finish setting up our office and the downstairs guest bedroom.

As always, you can see more pictures in my photostream.

Walking in Queen Anne

Today we walked around our area of the Queen Anne neighborhood for a bit and visited the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. There are some cool modern and modular looking homes around here that we really like. We also unpacked and hung more art around the house -- things are getting closer and closer to done.

We spent most of this past weekend unpacking, cleaning and arranging, with a few breaks to go get food and walk through the Fremont Sunday Market. We are probably about 75% finished with the house, still a lot of hanging of art and hooks and clocks to do and finishing up lots of odds and ends. We still have to compile the claim form of everything damaged or missing also.

Those of you that follow me on Instagram probably saw this already, but here is a sneak peek:

moving in

moving in

This has been a very hectic week. Our things were finally delivered on Wednesday after even more delays -- many pieces of furniture arrived filthy somewhat damaged, and one whole box was stolen. The stolen box contained our PS3 and Mac Mini (and possibly other things we haven't realized are gone yet), hence my assumption it was stolen. I really hope the van line reimburses us for those things. It honestly didn't occur to me that any of our stuff was at risk of theft. The whole concept of a move is that we give them basically all of our stuff and they take it from point A to point B -- all of it. Turns out they also freely steal from people. I guess that was naive of us to pack two expensive things in one box... I suppose lesson learned.

We are finally in our new place, however, and most of our small items came through really well. We've been working all day on unpacking and arranging and have made awesome progress. More pictures when we get done!

I bought a new lens for the E-M5 (Panasonic LUMIX G 20mm f/1.7) that arrived today; here are some shots with it on our walk home from dinner through part of the Queen Anne neighborhood.

Our things finally arrive tomorrow morning after five weeks (it was supposed to take less than three). It almost seems surreal. I am so excited to actually get to live in our townhouse! Update about this soon...

Our stuff still isn't here, so we're filling up our weekend as best we can. We got several things from IKEA we're going to work on assembling at the new place today. Seattle is in the middle of it's own cute little heat wave (88 degrees!!). The main problem with this for us is our little south-facing temporary apartment doesn't have air conditioning.
